Episode 6: Careless Whisper, from Seether. I choose the song due to the lyrics really being about people having feelings for each other. Throughout the episode you felt like someone still had unresolved feelings for someone else, such as Kate with Austin and of course Jacob and Vanessa. Fan's were receptive to the song choice in this episode and the quote "I feel so insecure as I take your hand and lead you to the dance floor."
Episode 7: Breaking Inside, from Shinedown. This was a very hard episode to choose a theme song for probably the hardest of the season because the song had to be perfect. One of the strangest scenes is Karen confronting Vanessa and the death of her daughter. Callie and Tyler's relationship is tested and I felt the quote worked very well with the final scene between Sharon and Garrett. "Leaving pieces of me behind. And I feel like I'm breaking inside."
Episode 8: Hide and Seek, from Imogen Heap. The episode theme song is the only song in the series to have been changed since the planning of the series. The original song was I Don't Care- by Apocalyptica ft. Adam Gontier from Three Days Grace. However while writing the episode itself I had Imogen Heap on and came across "Hide and Seek". Overall I thought the tone of what was going in the episode fit better with "Hide and Seek" opposed to the original song and quote. "Where are we? What the hell is going on? The dust has only just begun to form. Crop circles in the carpet. Sinking, feeling."
Episode 9: Favorite Sin, from Within Reason. The episode was guest written by Rob Hill producer and writer for Forever and A Day. I felt he did a wonderful job with the episode and even the application of the quote. You've been given all I have when you come around I seem to give in. In a fight, I'll never win, 'cause all the while, you're my favorite sin."
Episode 10: Take It All Away, from Red. Coming Soon, will air as our lost episode.
Episode 11: White Flag, from Dido. Austin and Liz's wedding it was very important when I was planning that I ran across this song for their wedding. Seeing how they did follow through with the wedding readers were left with a much different insight to the wedding party and the relations to people inside of that wedding party. Readers actually stated is was their favorite episode of the season next to episode 1. "I will go down with this ship and I won't put my hands up and surrender. There will be no white flag above my door. I'm in love and always will be."
Episode 12: Closer, from Burn Season. I will admit it I wanted a dark and twisted song for this episode due to the heavy themes that occur. Paige confessing her crime to Shane, Jake and Vanessa's graveyard kiss, Liz's bout with drugs and Kate again running to Austin's aid in the mist of a crisis I felt the quote was appropriate. "You say I'm stuck somewhere back in between. My blurred memories."
Episode 13: Life Left To Go, from Safetysuit. This was a tough episode to write, I had bought the album early and had listened to the song while planning. Overtime it stuck with me, as the past if being exposed and the hospital scenes with Liz came to light I felt it fit with the episode. The quote from the song was the hardest part of the entire thing to pick, eventually I end up with the following part to date the longest quote on the series. "Sometimes the edge serves, as more than a friend. Than you thought it would be and the pages you write, in your journal each night. Are your only release, and the mask you put on. It’s like words in a song. But there’s more to be seen, and the failures you see don’t seem failures to me here at all."
Episode 14: Violet Hill. from Coldplay. Everyone who knows me know that I don't like Coldplay I find them annoying, I had purchased the song last year cause I liked the guitar rift. I never really listened to the lyrics, it randomly came across the IPhone while I was planning the season and talk about creepy. It fit so well with the creepy factor for me. I ending up using my favorite quote from the song, as a reminder to the cover up. "When the future's architectured. By a carnival of idiots on show. You'd better lie low."
